A local leader of Trinamool Congress i.e. TMC was beaten to death in Birbhum district of West Bengal. Police gave details of the incident on Sunday. Some people attacked Sameer Thandar, 40, at Paruldanga near Bolpur town on Saturday night when he was returning home, police said. He was a member of Kankalitala Panchayat. Police said that Sameer Thandar died during treatment at Burdwan Medical College and Hospital.
Sameer Thandar’s son Prateek Thandar said, “Some villagers attacked my father. We rescued him and admitted him to the hospital, but he died there.” Trinamool Congress MLA from Suri Assembly seat, Vikas Roy Chowdhury said that it is suspected that the attack on Thandar was due to some dispute in the village. “We demand a proper investigation and action in this matter,” he said. Police said that five people have been detained in connection with the incident.
Girl raped after luring her with chocolate
Meanwhile, in Alipurduar district of West Bengal, a person has been arrested for raping a 9-year-old girl. Police gave this information on Saturday. Police said that when the girl was playing near her house in Kumargram police station area on Friday afternoon, the accused lured her with chocolate and took her to the forest and raped her. Police said the accused also threatened her that if she told anyone about the incident, she would have to face dire consequences.
Police said that when the girl was not seen for a long time, her family members started searching for her. After finding the girl, they took her home and found that she was bleeding from her private parts. Police said that the girl then told her mother about the incident. Superintendent of Police Y. Raghuvanshi said that after receiving information about the incident, the accused was arrested. Local people demanded hanging of the accused.
