Skoda India and Volkswagen India have recalled their 1,821 vehicles made in India due to technical fault. This recall of French car macar companies includes models made between December 2021 and May 2025.
The recall includes 860 vehicles of Slavia, Kushak and Kayalak and 961 units of Vasts and Tigun. The companies told the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM) that the defect has been identified in the rear seat belt in the recalled vehicles.
Fear of breaking the buckwheat launch plate of the rear seat belt
In recall documents, Skoda and Volkswagen reported that the car may break the buckwheat launch plate of the rear seat belt when the car collides in front. In such a situation, the webing of the back center seat belt assembly can bring out the buck of the right seat belt. This will increase the risk of injury to passengers.
Seat belt bakal lunch plate is a metal plate, used to connect and strengthen the clip of the seat belt of the car. It connects the clip with a seat or car frame, so that the seat belt works firmly during the accident and keeps the passenger safe. Its main task is to make the seat belt system stable and safe, which reduces the risk of injury in the accident.
In May also, more than 47 thousand cars were recalled
This is the second recall of both French car Macker companies this year. In May, the companies called over 47 thousand vehicles back due to this problem of seat belts. The recall included models made between 24 May 2024 to 1 April 2025. Among them were 25,722 vehicles of Slavia, Kushak and Kayalak of Slavia, and 21,513 units of Vartus and Tigun of Volkswagen.
No charge will be taken from customer
Both companies reported that Skoda India and Volkswagen India’s official workshops will contact these models, where the defect will be corrected. Vehicle owners will be informed to change the bad part. No fee will be charged from the customer to improve the defects or change parts.
Customers can check their service center and check whether their car is part of recall. Apart from this, you can also find out from the recall page of the company’s website using vehicle identification number (VIN). However, the companies have not confirmed whether there have been any casualties due to the defective rear seat belt.
Large cases of car recall in the country
- 1. Baleno and WagonR recall: In July 2020, Maruti recalled 1,34,885 units of WagonR and Baleno. These models were prepared between November 15, 2018 to October 15, 2019. The company recalled the vehicles due to a malfunction in the fuel pump.
- 2. Maruti Eco Recall: In November 2020, the company recalled 40,453 units of Eco. The company took this decision due to the missing standard symbol on the headlamp of the vehicle. The recall included Eco manufactured between November 4, 2019 to February 25, 2020.
- 3. Mahindra pickup recall: In 2021, Mahindra & Mahindra recalled 29,878 units of their commercial pickup vehicle. The company had said that a flood pipe is to be replaced in some pickup vehicles manufacturing between January 2020 and February 2021.
- 4. Mahindra Thar recall: Mahindra & Mahindra recalled 1577 units of the diesel variant of his offer SUV Thar in February 2021. The company had said that these parts became bad due to disturbances in the plant of the plant. All units were produced between September 7 to December 25, 2020.
- 5. Royal Enfield Recall: In May 2021, Royal Enfield ordered 2,36,966 units of Bullet 350, Classic 350 and Meti 350 due to the possibility of short circuit. All of them were manufacturing between December 2020 to April 2021.
