Demonstration on RG Kar Hospital incident
The case of rape and murder of a trainee female doctor at RG Kar Medical College, Kolkata is being heard in the Supreme Court. During the hearing, CBI has said that former principal of RGKar Medical College Sandeep Ghosh and station in-charge of Tala police station Abhijeet Mandal will be interrogated. Along with this, CBI has demanded from the Supreme Court that the judicial custody of both of them should be extended by three days.
CBI has received CCTV footage of Tala police station and forensic reports of mobile phones of Sandeep Ghosh, former principal of RG Kar Medical College, and Abhijit Mandal, former officer-in-charge of Tala police station. After the report of Central Forensic Science Lab reached the CBI office, CBI got many important information in the report. On the basis of this information both the accused are to be interrogated. CBI demanded remand of Sandeep Ghosh and Abhijeet Mandal for 3 more days.
What is the matter?
In the month of August, a female doctor was raped and murdered at RG Kar Hospital in Kolkata. The female doctor was doing night duty and had gone to the seminar hall to rest after having dinner. After this, cruelty happened to him. A volunteer associated with the hospital and police station was arrested in this case. The accused has confessed to his crime, but CBI is investigating in depth to get to the bottom of the entire matter. It is alleged that Kolkata Police helped in destroying evidence while conducting the initial investigation in this incident. The motive behind this was to hide the real accused. CBI is investigating from every angle. Former principal of RG Kar College and Tala police station in-charge have also been made accused in this case and CBI has interrogated both of them several times in this case.
After this incident, doctors protested fiercely demanding a new law for their safety. Doctors from all over the country came on the streets. After this, the Supreme Court took suo motu action and a committee has been formed regarding the demands of the doctors, which will present its report. Based on this report the government will decide to make a law.
