Seven Maoists were killed in an encounter between police and Maoists in a forest area in Telangana’s Mulugu district on Sunday. The encounter took place during a search operation in the Eturanagaram forest area, where a clash took place between the ‘Greyhounds’, the elite anti-Naxal force of the Telangana Police, and the Maoists, police said.
A senior police officer said that seven Maoists were killed in the encounter. The officer said that two AK-47 rifles and other weapons have been recovered from the encounter site. The official also confirmed that among the killed Maoists was Kursam Mangu alias Bhadru, secretary of the Telangana State Committee (Yelandu Narasampet) of the banned CPI (Maoist).
