German automaker Mercedes-Benz today (September 16) launched the EQS electric SUV in India. Mercedes has introduced it in a single variant 580 4-Matic, which is priced at Rs 1.41 crore (ex-showroom pan-India).
The luxury car maker claims that the car runs 809km on a single full charge and features like multiple driver assistance systems have been provided for safety. The looks and features of the electric SUV are similar to the GLS SUV.

The EQS SUV will be locally assembled in India like the EQS sedan.
The Audi Q8 will compete with the e-tron and BMW iX This is the sixth electric car in the company’s Indian lineup. It has been launched soon after the flagship electric car EQS Maybach. The car is placed between the EQE SUV and the Maybach EQS SUV. In India, the Mercedes-Benz EQS competes with electric cars like the Audi Q8 e-tron and BMW iX.

The car has 19-inch alloy wheels.
Exterior: 19-inch alloy wheels and LED lighting setup. The exterior of the Mercedes-Benz EQS gets much less chrome than the Maybach EQS and also does not have the Maybach’s special dual-tone paint scheme with deep-dish alloy wheels. In terms of size, the car is equal to the Mercedes-Benz GLS, measuring 5125mm in length, 1959mm in width and 1718mm in height.
The front of the Mercedes-Benz EQS features a large closed-off grille with the Mercedes-Benz logo in the center and thin LED headlights on both sides. Apart from this, it has a connected LED DRL strip covering the entire width of the bonnet and a large bumper.
On the side, you will find aerodynamically designed 19-inch alloy wheels and flush fitting door handles. The EQS has a square shaped roofline. Talking about the back portion, connected LED lighting and a skid plate with silver finishing have been provided here. There is charging on the front fender of the EQS SUV.

Interior: Triple touch screen setup The interior of the EQS SUV has a triple screen on the dashboard, which the company has named MBUX Hyper Screen. Mercedes has given wooden inserts on its door pads and center console. The car gets leather upholstery. Mercedes-Benz has introduced the EQS SUV in a 3-row layout, which can seat 7 people.
The car’s dashboard has a 17.7-inch touchscreen, a 12.3-inch digital driver display and a 12.3-inch touchscreen for the co-passenger, which together makes a 55.5-inch setup. Apart from this, the car has features like head-up display, augmented reality navigation, 5-zone climate control, 360-degree camera and multi-ambient lighting setup along with personal entertainment screen for the middle passenger and electronically adjustable seats.
For safety, the car has been provided with features like Level-2 ADAS, 360-degree camera, 9 airbags, various driver-assistance systems and ISOFIX child seat mount.

The car has 5-zone climate control and ambient lighting.
Performance: Range of 809km and top speed of 210kmph The Mercedes-Benz EQS comes with different battery packs in the global market, but in India it is offered with a combination of dual motor and 122kWh battery pack. This setup generates 544hp of power and 858Nm of torque. The car has been given the option of all-wheel drive powertrain.
The company claims that the car can accelerate from 0-100kmph in just 4.7 seconds and has a top speed of 210kmph. The electric car runs 809km on a full charge. The battery pack can be charged from 10-80% in 31 minutes with a 200kW DC charger.

The Mercedes-Benz EQS is equipped with a 122kWh battery pack.
