Milkypur: The Election Commission had today announced by-elections in UP but had stopped the by-election in Milkipur seat of Ayodhya. The reason behind this was revealed that Milkipur by-election has been stopped due to an election petition.
Lawyer announced withdrawal of the petition
The new update in this matter is that the lawyer of former Milkipur MLA Gorakhnath Baba has announced to withdraw the petition. Advocate Rudra Vikram Singh, who looked after the work of Gorakhnath Baba, has announced this by releasing a video.
What is the petition, due to which the by-elections were stopped?
Former MLA Gorakhnath Baba had filed a petition for SP candidate Awadhesh Prasad to win the election after losing in the 2022 assembly elections, which is currently pending in the court. According to Gorakhnath Baba, the affidavit filed by Awadhesh Prasad at the time of nomination had the notary date expiry. Please note that if the notary date expires then the nomination is cancelled.
Gorakhnath Baba had filed a petition in the court on the basis of the case of MLC Anoop Gupta. Gorakhnath Baba is considered a sharp leader of BJP. Baba became MLA from Milkipur in 2017 but lost in the 2022 elections. In 2022, SP candidate Awadhesh Prasad had won by more than 13 thousand votes.
Maharashtra and Jharkhand election dates announced
Let us tell you that the Election Commission has announced the dates of Maharashtra and Jharkhand assembly elections. Elections will be held in Maharashtra on November 20 and counting of votes will take place on November 23. Elections will be held in Maharashtra in a single phase. Whereas in Jharkhand, voting will be held on 13th and 20th November and the results will come only on 23rd November. Elections will be held in Jharkhand in 2 phases.
Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar said that there will be 9 crore 63 lakh voters in Maharashtra. There are 5 crore male voters here. Voting will take place at one lakh polling booths here. There will be around 960 voters at every booth in Maharashtra. Rajiv told that there are 2 crore 60 lakh voters in Jharkhand. There are 1 crore 31 lakh male voters here and 1 crore 29 lakh female voters. Voting will be held at 29 thousand 526 booths in Jharkhand. There will be 881 voters at every booth in Jharkhand.
