Asian Champions Trophy 2024 India vs China: In the Asian Champions Trophy 2024, the Indian hockey team defeated China 1-0. At the beginning of this match, no one from both the teams was able to score a goal. Then a few minutes before the match ended, Jugraj Singh scored a goal for India. Due to this goal, the Indian hockey team was successful in winning the title. India won the Asian Champions Trophy title for the fifth time in total. China made it to the final for the first time and lost for the first time.
There was no goal from either side for the first three quarters
In the first quarter, players from both teams failed to score goals. India created chances to score goals, but the team was not successful in scoring goals. India also got a penalty corner. But the Indian hockey team could not capitalize on it. In the second quarter too, no goals were scored by both teams. In this quarter, China’s defense performed brilliantly and kept the Indian players at bay. In the third quarter, China made many attacks to score goals, but none of them worked in front of Indian goalkeeper Krishna Pathak.
Jugraj Singh scored a powerful goal
When there was no goal between the two teams till the third quarter, it seemed that the match would go into penalty shootout. But after this, Jugraj Singh scored a brilliant field goal and gave the team a 1-0 lead in the match. This increased the hopes of the Indian hockey team to win. After this, India did not give China any chance to score a goal. Jugraj’s goal in the final proved to be important in helping the team win the trophy.
Won the Asian Champions Trophy title for the fifth time
The Indian hockey team has performed brilliantly in the Asian Champions Trophy 2024 and has not lost a single match till the final. The team defeated South Korea 4-1 in the semi-finals. Harmanpreet Singh, Uttam Singh and Jarmanpreet Singh scored goals against the Korean team. The Indian hockey team has won the Asian Champions Trophy title for the fifth time in total. Earlier, India won the trophy in 2011, 2016, 2018 (joint winner with Pakistan) and 2023. Harmanpreet Singh has received the Player of the Tournament award for his strong performance throughout the tournament.
