Hyundai Motor India has launched the CNG version of the base variant of Micro SUV Exterited EX with dual-cylinder technology today (7 April). The company claims that the car runs 27.1 km in one kilo CNG. It directly competes with Tata Panch.
Exterities have now become Hyundai’s cheapest CNG SUV. The ex-showroom price of Ex-variant with dual CNG cylinder has been kept at Rs 7.50 lakh, which is 1,05 lakhs less than the S executive variant coming with a single CNG cylinder.
Now it has a total of 5 dual-cylinder SNG variants- Ex, S, S+, SX and SX Night. The ex-showroom price of its top variant is Rs 9.48 lakh. At the same time, the price of micro SUV in petrol is between Rs 6 lakh to Rs 10.50 lakh.

Dual-cylinder technology advantage
In the dual CNG-cylinder setup, two CNG cylinders of 30-30 liters are given in the car boot. This setup was first introduced by Tata in its premium hatchback ultraz. Now this setup is available in all the CNG cars of the company. The biggest advantage of this is that it gives more boot space in the car, while boot space is available in single cylinder.
The updated External CNG also has an integrated electronic control unit (ECU). With this, the car can be easily switched to CNG mode from petrol. This function is also found in all the CNG cars of Tata.
The company is offering a 3-year and unlimited kilometer warranty with Exterited Dual CNG-cylinder technology. In India, this car will compete with Tata Panch besides Citroen C3, Reno Caiger, Nissan Magnite, Maruti Suzuki Fronx and Ignis.

CNG setup with E20 fuel ready petrol engine
Two engine options are available to power Hyundai Exter. It provides the first 1.2 -liter 3 cylinder natural aspirated kappa petrol engine, which generates 83hp power and 113.8Nm peak torque.
This engine comes in Hyundai’s Grand i10 Neos, i20 and Aura. This engine is tuned with a 5-speed manual transmission (5MT) and smart AMT (automated manual transmission) gearbox.
The second 1.2-liter Buel-Fuel Cuppa Petrol is a CNG engine, which is tuned with a 5-speed manual transmission. This engine generates 69hp power and 95.2 Nm of torque in CNG mode. Both engines can also run on E20 fuel.
