FIR demand against Rishabh Shetty
Rishabh Shetty’s film Kantara: Chapter 1 has come into controversy as 33 -year -old junior artist MF Kapil has died tragically on the set. Kapil drowned while floating in the river during the shooting of the film in Karnataka. The incident occurred on Tuesday (May 6), due to which the shooting of the film was suddenly stopped. Now, the All Indian Cine Workers Association (AICWA) has issued a statement, demanding an immediate and intensive investigation into the incident. He has also demanded an FIR against actor-producer Rishabh Shetty and production house Hombale Films.

In an official statement shared on its X (East Twitter) handle, Aicwa expressed grief over the incident, saying, ‘All Indian Cine Workers Association (AICWA) expresses deep grief over the tragic death of 33 -year -old junior artist MF Kapil, a 33 -year -old junior artist MF Kapil, a resident of Musarithara in Vaikom, Kerala, who expresses deep grief on 6 May 2025 at the afternoon of 3:45 pm. He lost his life during the shooting of the film Kantara 2 (Chapter-1) near the river. The statement further stated that, according to the film’s producer and actor Rishabh Shetty, the cause of death was to drown while swimming. An FIR has already been lodged at the Kallur police station.
Concern about safety on the set of Kantara 2
Referring to similar previous events, AICWA’s statement expressed concern about the repeated patterns of negligence on the film set. It cited previous tragedies including the death of technicians during the shooting of Tamil films Indian 2 and Sardar 2 and bus accidents of 20 junior actors in November last year. T Aicwa is very concerned about the incidents of deaths on the film set continuously. Producers and production houses often underestimate by reducing the severity of such incidents and gives misleading information. In this fresh tragedy, the claim of drowning should be thoroughly investigated to find out whether the real cause of death is or other factors are included. ‘
Demanding strict action, Aicwa emphasized the need for transparency in such incidents, ‘Aicwa firmly believes that whenever a worker loses his life on a film set, it is often hidden to the real cause and any worker who attempts to highlight the truth is threatened. This practice of hiding the truth behind such sad events should stop. He demanded a high -level, impartial inquiry from Karnataka Chief Minister Shri Siddaramaiah and financial compensation for the family of the deceased. ‘Aicwa urges the Honorable Chief Minister of Karnataka to start a high -level, fair investigation … In addition, AICWA demands that an FIR be filed against producer Rishabh Shetty and production house. In addition, AICWA appeals to the manufacturers of Kantara 2 to give financial compensation of Rs 1 crore to a heartbreaking family. So far, neither Rishabh Shetty nor the film’s makers have publicly reacted to the demands of AICWA nor have any statement about the incident.
