Atishi will be the new Chief Minister of Delhi
Delhi: Arvind Kejriwal has now chosen his successor. Aam Aadmi Party has nominated its sharp and strong leader Atishi for the post of Chief Minister. In the meeting of the legislative parties held on Tuesday, Arvind Kejriwal himself proposed Atishi’s name, which was unanimously accepted. In this way, Atishi will now become the new Chief Minister of Delhi. There were many names in the race for the post of CM of Delhi, including Saurabh Bhardwaj, Gopal Rai, Kailash Gehlot and Rakhi Birla, but the name of Atishi was finalized.
After all, why did Atishi become Kejriwal’s first choice?
Kejriwal’s trusted and close aide
Atishi has been considered a trusted and close aide of Kejriwal for a long time. She has been associated with Arvind Kejriwal and the Aam Aadmi Party since the time of the Anna movement. In just five years, Atishi has traveled from MLA to minister with her ability and her sharp nature. Atishi became an MLA for the first time in the year 2020 by winning the election from Kalkaji seat. She got a ministerial post in the Kejriwal cabinet in the year 2023 and now she has become the Chief Minister of Delhi.
Strong and witty leader
When Arvind Kejriwal and Manish Sisodia were in jail in the Delhi liquor scam case, Atishi was the one who took charge of the Aam Aadmi Party. In the absence of both the big leaders, she handled the responsibilities of the government as well as the organization very well. Whenever Aam Aadmi Party faced trouble, she came forward and fought the opponents and did not let the morale of her party leaders and workers fall.
The only woman minister in Kejriwal cabinet
Atishi was the only woman minister in the Aam Aadmi Party government’s cabinet and she became the leading voice of women in the party. She made a huge contribution in the field of education and after Manish Sisodia went to jail, she took over the reins of the education ministry and did it well.
Good experience in organisation and administration
Atishi has a good hold on the organization and leaders. Her style has been quite aggressive for the opponents from the beginning. Along with this, she also has good experience of organization and administration. In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, Atishi was appointed in-charge of East Delhi as the candidate of Aam Aadmi Party. But she lost the election to Gautam Gambhir of BJP by a margin of 4.77 lakh votes.
Won the election from Kalkaji, joined the cabinet
In the 2020 Delhi Assembly elections, Atishi contested from Kalkaji assembly constituency in South Delhi. She defeated BJP candidate Dharamvir Singh by 11,422 votes. Later, after the resignation of Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia and Health Minister Satyendra Jain, she was included in the Delhi government as a cabinet minister along with Saurabh Bhardwaj. Atishi’s political journey has been full of ups and downs.
