Ilon Musk’s EV company Tesla’s first Indian showroom has started to be built in Mumbai. The company finalized in Mumbai’s posh area Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC) instead of 4000 square feet for its first showroom.
Along with this, preparations are also going on to open a second showroom in Delhi’s aerocity. Both these showrooms can open in July 2025. On social media platform x, a user has posted pictures of Tesla’s showroom.
According to Bloomberg reports, Tesla will start with its Made-in-China Electric SUV model Y. These cars will be brought to India from Tesla’s Shanghai factory. The price of company cars in India can start from Rs 48 lakh.

Model y world’s best -selling electric car
Tesla’s arrival in India is also special because India is the third largest automobile market in the world. The company is facing a decrease in sales in Europe and China, so India can prove to be a big opportunity for them.
The company’s model Y is the world’s best -selling electric car, it may also be liked by Indian customers. The company has also imported supercharger components, car accessories, merchandise and spare from the US, China and Netherlands.


Showroom fare around ₹ 35 lakh per month
According to reports, Tesla has hired a place for 5 years in the maker Maxity Building in BKC, Mumbai. Its fare is around Rs 35 lakh per month, which is one of the most expensive commercial rent in India. This showroom will display Tesla’s premium electric vehicles. Customers will also get a chance to test drive here.

Tesla will build a warehouse in Karnataka-Gurugram
Tesla is renting a place for a warehouse in Karnataka in South, India. Apart from this, the company is also planning to lease a place in Gurugram outside New Delhi. Apart from this, Tesla officials from other countries are also visiting the showrooms of Mumbai and New Delhi.
Tesla will take advantage of government’s EV policy
The Government of India has recently created a new policy for electric vehicles (EV), in which foreign companies can get the benefit of low import duty (15%), provided they invest $ 500 million, or Rs 4,327 crore in India and start local production in three years. Tesla is preparing to take advantage of this policy.

The company will sell only imported cars in India right now
However, Tesla has not yet decided to set up its factory in India. Some time ago it was reported that Tesla is considering setting up factory in states like Gujarat, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu and Telangana, but currently the company is focusing on selling only imported cars in India.
Tesla will have competition from Tata and Mahindra
The market of electric cars in India is still small, in 2023, only 2% of cars were electric. But the government targets that 30% new cars should be electric by 2030. Desi companies like Tata Motors and Mahindra are already present in this market and now the arrival of Tesla will increase the competition.
