Emergency landing had to be done due to a flying Birds of IndiGo flight flying to Ranchi. The incident took place today (Monday, 2 June) at 1.14 pm. Flight number 6e6152 (Airbus 320) when a gramper collided with a vulture when it was about 10 to 12 nipple miles from Ranchi Airport.
At the time when the accident occurred, the aircraft was at an altitude of about 3 to 4 thousand feet. The pilot had to keep the aircraft in the air for 40 minutes when the vulture collided with the aircraft. After this, landing was made at Birsa Munda Airport in Ranchi. The collision has led to a dent in the next part of the aircraft. The flight had 175 passengers, which are all safe.

Now in such a situation, the question arises that how much a bird causes such a huge damage to such a big aircraft that it has to make landing in a hurry…
1.8 kg bird hitting the plane more dangerous than gunshot
When a bird collides with a flying aircraft, it is called a ‘bird strike’ or ‘bird hit’.
According to a report, when a 1.8 kg bird collides with a high speed aircraft, 3,50,000 newton forces are produced. Understand this in such a way that when one 40 grams of bullet fire is fired from a 0.365 m hose gun, it produces 2,684 newton forces. Newton is a unit of force here. This was the language of science.
Now consider it in easy language, when a 1.8 kg bird collides with the aircraft, its force is about 130 times more than a bullet. According to the ABC Science report, a 5 kg bird colliding with a plane at a speed of 275 km/h is the same as falling on the ground from 15 meters above a bag of 100 kg.
However, precautions are taken to protect the aircraft from ‘bird hit’, but when the bird collides with a turbine of the plane, it increases the risk of accident.

These 4 things responsible for the ‘bird hit’ being dangerous
In most cases of ‘bird hit’, the bird collides in front of a plane or from the edge. During this time, there is more possibility of birds colliding with the wing of the plane. When the bird collides with the windshield of the plane, it causes a crack. Because of this, there is a difference in air pressure inside the cabin. How dangerous or fatal can be for a plane ‘bird hit’ depends on these 4 things…
1. Bird’s weight
2. Bird size
3. Bird flying speed
4. Direction of flying birds
Every day 34 ‘bird hit’ cases come up
The International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) surveyed 91 countries. It found that cases of 34 ‘bird hit’ are reported worldwide every day. Due to this, every year the commercial plane worldwide has an annual loss of about 7.79 thousand crores. However, 92% of ‘bird hit’ cases are without any damage.

3 methods are adopted to remove birds from the airport ..
- Speaker: Vans are deployed at Singapore Airport to avoid bird hits and to drive away birds. It contains loudspeakers, ranging from gunshot to 20 types of sounds to drive away long distances.
- Laser gun: Laser lights or laser guns are being resorted to to save the flight from bird hit at Surat Airport and to drive away birds. Actually, the laser comes out of the gun with lights and sounds that serve to distract the attention of birds.
- Shooter: A shooter is appointed to protect the aircraft from bird hits at many big airports in the world. Pakistan’s Lahore Airport Authority reinstated 12 bird shooters to kill birds in 2020.

The first case of ‘bird hit’ was revealed 117 years ago
The first case of bird hit was reported in 1905 by one of the Right Prasadars, the airplane -making airplane. When Ovil was blowing flights from above a corn field, he got trapped in a flock of birds. During this time a bird collided with his plane.
However, the number of major events caused by bird hits in the world is low. In most cases the airplane is less damaged, but sometimes it proves to be dangerous.

This picture is done when the Airbus 1549 aircraft was launched in 2009 after the ‘Bird Hit’ in the Hudson River.
In 2009, an incident of ‘bird hit’ which attracted the attention of the world
Every year there are more than 10,000 cases of ‘bird hit’ worldwide, but on 15 January 2009, an incident in the US caught everyone’s attention. In fact, US Airways Flight 1549 hit a bird plane as soon as he flew from New York City.
This ‘bird hit’ was so strong that the engine of the aircraft caught fire as the bird collided. Sensing the danger, the pilot landed the flight in the Hudson River. Due to which a big danger was averted.
