Meerut Mavericks vs Kanpur Superstars
In the final of UP T20 League 2024, Meerut Mavericks defeated Kanpur Strikers by 5 wickets. In this match, captain Madhav Kaushik proved to be the biggest hero for Meerut. He performed brilliantly and gave the team victory by hitting a six off Mohsin Khan’s ball. Batting first, Kanpur Strikers gave a target of 191 runs to Meerut Mavericks, which Meerut achieved easily.
Madhav Kaushik scored a half century
Meerut Mavericks had a very bad start when opener Akash Dubey returned to the pavilion without opening his account. Then from one end Swastik Chikara (62) tried to stay on the wicket for some time. He was supported by captain Madhav Kaushik (69 runs). These two players laid the foundation for Meerut Mavericks’ victory. Divyansh Rajput (24 runs) and Hrithik Vats (20 runs) came later on the foundation laid by these players and built the castle of victory. Madhav and Hrithik did not get out till the end and these players made the team the winner on their own. Meerut’s regular captain Rinku Singh was not playing in this match. He is currently a part of the Duleep Trophy. That is why Madhav Kaushik took over the responsibility of captaincy in his place.
Kanpur Strikers bowlers could not perform well against Meerut Mavericks. Mohsin Khan definitely took two wickets. But he proved to be very expensive. Apart from this, Rishabh Rajput and Mukesh Kumar got 1-1 wickets.
Kanpur openers made a partnership of 77 runs for the first wicket
Openers Shoaib Siddiqui and Shaurya Singh gave a great start to Kanpur Superstars. These players shared a 77-run partnership for the first wicket. But Shoaib was out on a personal score of 35 runs. After this, captain Sameer Rizvi and Shaurya batted strongly. Both these players scored half-centuries and took the Kanpur team to a respectable score. Shaurya Singh (56 runs) and Sameer Rizvi were out after scoring 57 runs. In the end, Ankur Singh batted fast and scored 26 runs in 22 balls. It was because of these players that the Kanpur Superstars team was able to score 190 runs in 20 overs. Yash Garg bowled well for Meerut Mavericks. He took the maximum of three wickets. Zeeshan Ansari and Vishal Chaudhary took one wicket each.
