Aerospace startup Sarla Aviation has introduced its prototype air taxi ‘zero’ at the startup Mahakumbh today (3 April). This taxi can fly a distance of 160 km at a time, but will be used for 20–30 km of small trips.
The company said that it would be able to fly at a speed of up to 250 km per hour and will be ready for a trip in just 20 minutes of charging. Zero Flying Taxi is expected to reduce travel time in congested areas. 7 people including pilots will be able to sit in it. The company revealed it for the first time at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo held in January.
Fare of a trip equal to premium taxi service The company’s co-founder Shivam Chauhan told Dainik Bhaskar that he will start the flying taxi service from Bengaluru by 2028. After this, there is a plan to expand air taxi service in cities like Mumbai, Delhi, Noida and Pune.
There is a plan to keep the price of a trip in the zero equal to the premium taxi service of Ola-Ober. Apart from passenger transportation, he also announced to launch a free air ambulance service to meet emergency medical needs in urban areas.

India’s first female pilot in the name of Sarla Thukral The platform in Bangalore has named it after the name of India’s first female pilot Sarla Thukral. It was established in October 2023 by Adrian Schmidt, Rakesh Gramkar and Shivam Chauhan. Sarla Aviation has designed zero for air taxi service. It can carry a maximum of 680 kg weight.
Maruti Suzuki’s flying car will be launched in 2025 Maruti Suzuki also introduced the prototype model of its flying car at Bharat Global Mobility Expo-2025. The brand is making flying electric cars in collaboration with its parent company Suzuki Motor Corporation (SMC). The company has partnered with Japanese startup Skydrive for this.
It can be used as electric flying taxi service in urban areas. The company is considering its manufacturing in India. The company’s Global Automobile Planning Department Assistant Manager Kento Ogura recently told in an event that if we come here under Make In India, the flying car will definitely be cheaper here.
It is expected to be launched at 2025 Osaka Expo in Japan with 12 units of motor and rotors. Initially, the range of three-Passenger edition will be 15 km. After this, it is expected to double by 2029 to 30 kilometers to 30 kilometers and then by 2031.

1. Mahindra will bring India’s first air taxi next year Anand Mahindra, chairman of the automobile company Mahindra Group, recently confirmed in a post on X that India would get its first electric air taxi by next year. He has also shared photos of a prototype model. This electric air taxi will be prepared at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Initiative Company EPLANE.
The air taxi will be like a two-seater aircraft. It will provide air travel facility to the public in the future. Its maximum range will be 200 km. It will fly at a 200 kmph speed of 200 kmph with 160 kmph cruising ability.
2. Asia’s first hybrid flying car, can also fly from the roof of the house Chennai -based Vinata aeromobility company in India is manufacturing a hybrid flying car. The company says that it will be able to fly from the roof of the house without any runway. The company first showed the car’s model Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia.
The hybrid flying car can fly for 60 minutes at a top speed of 120 kmph. It can fly up to 3,000 feet height from the ground level. The two -seater car weighs 1100 kg, which can take off with maximum 1300kg weight. The company claims that its range is up to 100 km.
Chinese company XPENG and Hyundai also made flying cars
In Las Vegas, USA, Chinese company XPENG and Hyundai’s Advanced Air Mobility Company Super Ornament showcased their flying car at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2024 in Las Vegas. Apart from this, Pal-V Liberty and Next Future Asca are also developing their flying car.
1. Chinese company Xpeng’s flying car
Xpeng Aero HT introduced its flying car in CES-2024. It will be produced on a large scale in 2025. Fully-electronic piloted aircraft is capable of vertical takeoff/landing and low-height flights. It supports manual and autonomous flight mode.

No rules in India regarding air taxi
The government has not yet decided any rules or roadmaps in India regarding air taxi. So far, it has not been launched in India, in future the government can decide the rules regarding this.
