New Delhi: The cleanliness of Yamuna was the major issue during the assembly elections in the capital Delhi. The BJP fiercely siege the Aam Aadmi Party over the issue of cleaning the Yamuna. Now, after the BJP got an absolute majority in the Delhi elections, the work of cleaning the Yamuna river has been started. The Lieutenant Governor’s Office of Delhi has given information about this.

On behalf of the office, it was said, “Work on cleaning the Yamuna River has already started, in which the cleaning campaign has started in the river from today with trash skimmer, video harvester and a drag utility craft. LG VK Saxena of Delhi Met the Chief Secretary and ACS (I&FC) yesterday and asked them to start work immediately. “
Work will be done in four stages
The office of the Lieutenant Governor of Delhi says that a four-level strategy has been made to deal with this issue widely. In this, work will be done in different stages to clean the river which is as follows-
- First, garbage and silt will be removed in the stream of Yamuna River.
- Along with this, a cleanliness drive will be started in Najafgarh drain, supplementary drain and all other major drains.
- Also, the existing STP will be monitored daily in terms of their capacity and output.
- In the context of construction, new STP/DSTP etc. will be installed to meet the actual shortage of treatment of about 400 MGD sewer in terms of construction.
Strict instructions given to officers
The implementation of this ambitious scheme, which aims to clean the river in about 3 years, will require uninterrupted coordination between various agencies and departments including DJB, I&FC, MCD, Environment Department, PWD and DDA. In addition, the Delhi Pollution Control Committee will also monitor the highest level (DPCC) has been directed by industrial units in the city to keep a strict monitoring of the discharge of untreated wastes in the drains.
