Omprakash Chautala
Gurugram: Former Chief Minister of Haryana and Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) supremo Om Prakash Chautala has passed away. He was 89 years old. He breathed his last at his residence in Gurugram. Chautala suffered a heart attack at his home after which he was immediately taken to the hospital but could not be saved. As soon as the news of his demise was heard, a wave of mourning ran among his supporters.
Om Prakash Chautala was the son of Chaudhary Devi Lal.
Om Prakash Chautala had inherited politics. He was the son of Chaudhary Devi Lal, who was famous in the politics of Haryana as well as the country. Chaudhary Devi Lal was the Deputy Prime Minister of the country in the Janata Dal government in 1989.
Om Prakash Chautala was the eldest son among the 5 children of Chaudhary Devi Lal. When Devi Lal became the Deputy PM, he took the responsibility of Haryana. Om Prakash Chautala was the Chief Minister of the state from 1989 to 1991. In 1999, Om Prakash Chautala formed the government in Haryana with the help of BJP and became CM. He was the Chief Minister of the state four times.
Om Prakash Chautala has two sons, Ajay and Abhay Chautala. Both are active in Haryana politics. The names of Ajay Chautala’s sons are Dushyant and Digvijay Chautala. Dushyant Chautala has been the Deputy CM of Haryana.
Haryana Chief Minister Naib Singh Saini has expressed grief over the demise of Om Prakash Chautala.
