Tata Nexon is the first car in the country which comes in all four versions – petrol, diesel, CNG and electric.
Tata Motors has today (24 September) launched the CNG version of its most popular car Nexon. This compact SUV comes with a turbo petrol engine. Hence, this is the first car in India to come with a turbo petrol engine and CNG combination. The company claims that the car will run 24 kilometers in one kilo of CNG.
The Nexon now comes with a panoramic sunroof along with the CNG powertrain. Tata has offered the Nexon iCNG in four variants – 8 variants. Its price starts at Rs 8.99 lakh with the Smart variant, going up to Rs 14.59 lakh (ex-showroom, pan-India) for the top variant Fearless Plus PS.
The CNG version of the car is Rs 1 lakh more expensive than the regular petrol model, which is priced between Rs 7.99 lakh and Rs 11.20 lakh. The diesel version of the Nexon comes between Rs 9.99 lakh and Rs 15.29 lakh. Tata Nexon iCNG competes with Maruti Brezza SCNG and Maruti Fronx SCNG.

Twin-cylinder tank setup with 60-litre capacity There are no changes in the exterior and interior design of Nexon iCNG. The biggest change is in the boot. Here you will see twin cylinder technology. This technology has a twin-cylinder tank setup (two cylinders of 30-30 liters) with a capacity of 60 liters. This gives Nexon iCNG a boot space of 321 liters, which is 61 liters less than the petrol and diesel variants.

Safety feature to detect gas leaks Tata Motors Nexon iCNG has a gas leak detection safety feature like other models. In case of CNG leakage in the car, the leak detection technology automatically shifts the car from CNG to petrol mode. This technology also alerts the driver about the gas leak.
Apart from this, a micro switch has been provided to keep the car off while filling fuel. This switch turns off the ignition as soon as the fuel lid is opened. It does not allow the car to start until the fuel lid is securely closed. It also gives an alert of ‘close fuel lid’ on the instrument cluster.
Performance: Petrol, Diesel, CNG and Electric For performance, Tata Nexon iCNG has a 1.2 liter turbo-petrol CNG engine that generates 100PS of power and 170Nm of torque. For transmission, it has been tuned with a 6-speed manual gearbox. The option of automatic transmission is not yet provided with it.
In the ICE powered version of Nexon, this engine generates 120PS of power and 170Nm of torque. With this, the choice of 5-speed manual, 6-speed manual, 7-speed DCT (dual-clutch automatic transmission) and 6-speed AMT (automated manual transmission) gearbox is available.
Apart from this, Nexon also has a 1.5-liter diesel engine with 115PS of power and 260Nm of torque, with which there is an option of 6-speed manual and 6-speed AMT gearbox. Tata Nexon also comes in an electric version. With this, it has become the first car in the country, which comes in all four versions of petrol, diesel, CNG and electric.

Exterior: New design LED setup and alloy wheels will be available Talking about the design, Nexon iCNG is similar to its regular petrol-diesel model. Its front has new LED DRLs split headlamp setup. Below this, LED headlamps have been installed on the sporty bumper.
On the sides, you will get 16-inch diamond cut dual-tone alloy wheels. The rear has a full connected LED tail light, which the company calls ‘X Factor Tail Lamp’. It also has a welcome and goodbye function.


Interior: 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system The cabin of the car has a two-spoke flat-bottom steering wheel. Apart from this, the car has a touch panel HVAC unit on the dashboard and a new gear selector on the center console. Tata Nexon CNG will get a new 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a 10.25-inch fully digital instrument cluster. Front ventilated seats have been provided in the top variant of the car.

Features: Electric sunroof with voice command Tata Nexon is equipped with many advanced features. These include Tata’s IRA 2.0 mobile connected-technology, voice assisted electric sunroof, JBL 9-speaker sound system, wireless charger, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, first-in-segment navigation display on instrument cluster. Apart from this, cruise control, height adjustable driver seat, leather upholstery and electric panoramic sunroof with voice command is also available in the top variant of the car.


Safety features: 360-degree camera and TPMS For safety, the Nexon has features like 360-degree camera, front and rear parking sensors, first category blind-view monitor, ESP, 6 airbags, hill-hold control, roll over mitigation, traction control, ISOFIX child anchor seat and tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS).
